Now, almost one year in existence, 312 followers and 105 posts later, I’ve decided to retire the quill. Some life changing events occurred in my life and it seems trivial to carry on. I will however, continue posting to my photoblog (they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so when I post a picture, it will be like posting a thousand words — right?).

They say everything in life happens for a reason and there is a lesson to be learned from each experience. I’ve had a few hard experiences that caused me to wonder what kind of lesson I could learn from them, but looking back, those experiences contributed to who I am today.

How do you know?

Are you sure?

Actor Neil Patrick Harris came out publicly and it created a stir in the media and Hollywood. Neil and his partner are happy with their twins. I’m seeing children as young as 12 y/o professing that they are gay. These children are victimized by children of heterosexual couples. Some even take their life because they feel that they would be safer in death. How sad.

Life is a gift. How you live it is your prerogative. What makes you happy? The things that makes me happy are not the same things that make you happy. Deviation from societal norm is extremely frowned upon.

Human rights are extremely important, but sometimes we can be a bit biased when assessing certain situation that questions human rights. If we spend more time embracing the things that connect us instead of the things that separates us, wouldn’t society be a better place?

Sunday Stealing: The Get Out of Jail Free Meme, Part One

1. When you’re home alone, do you still close the door when you use the restroom?

~Hell no. I don’t even wear clothes (oops … tmi?? )

2. If you have to go grocery shopping, would you rather go alone or with someone?

~I’d rather sleep, but if i HAVE TO go, I’d prefer going alone so I can get the bare ESSENTIALS.

3. It’s your best friends birthday, would you buy them a gift even though they didn’t buy you one for yours

~Yeah. I would get him a box neatly wrapped with nothing and a card that says “Consider this a lesson in kindness”

4. You win the lottery. Lump sum or small payments over a period? Why?

~I’ve been planning for that day since I could spell lottery. Definitely lump sum. How else am I going to buy my island? You ever heard anyone buying an island in installments??

5. Do you like your music loud or at a reasonable level?

~Depends on the music. Rock/Alternative – LOUD. Souls/R&B/Classical etc – Reasonable level. What is a reasonable level btw? Isn’t that subjective? If my radio volume knob stops at 10, and I put it at 8, that could be a reasonable level for me

6. Are you a beach person or a snowy mountain person?

~hmm …

beach: get eaten by crabs. stung by sting rays or sea snakes or electrocuted by box jellyfishes

snowy mountain: roll off the snowy hill. covered by an avalanche.

7. When do you brush your teeth?

~Seriously?? Once, in the mornings. Everyone knows that!!

8. Can you watch scary movies alone?

~What am I 10y/o? Honey, do you wanna watch The Exorcist with me??

9. Soft bed or firm? And in fantasy land, who’s in it with you?

~Firm. A love nest with Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry and Gabrielle Union. Oh WOW!!!

10. Would you rather stay home all day, or be out and about?

~That’s a tricky one. I like being out and about, but I get nostalgic so easily

11. What’s one of your worst memories (that you are comfortable sharing)?

~My company had a sports day and i decided to compete in a race. Being very confident, I was the crowd favorite, so naturally I thought I would win. A quarter way to the finish line it was all a blur.

When I opened my eyes, all i saw was my lips clutching the asphalt. My ego wasn’t the only thing bruised that day – elbows, shin, knees, knuckles, instep, toes … did I miss any ... I think I covered them all

12. Do you like to keep the peace or be confrontational?

~At first I use to be confrontational, now I keep the peace. Peace!

13. Are you more likely to be with a large group of people or a few close friends?

~Large group. I have to be the center of attention, and the attention I seek is always a large crowd.

14. What are your plans for October?

~Celebrate my wife’s birthday and surprise her everyday in the month

15. If money were not a problem, where would you like to live?

~On another habitable planet

16. What is your ideal profession?

~Prophet! I joke I joke. An actor

17. Are you (or were you) close to your Mom and Dad?

~As close as tick to a dog’s posterior.

18. What is one fear that you can’t seem to overcome?

~Fear of Fear. How do you overcome THAT!?

19. Are you good at math?

~Who is?

When death gives you an invitation to an all-inclusive party, does knowing that you will be going make it any easier?

If the doctor tells you that you have cancer and your life expectancy is two months, on the last day of that last month, will you be at peace with the idea of dying or will you be scared?

When it comes to death, is ignorance better?

What are your thoughts?

When God created woman, he was working late on the 6th day.

An Angel came and said:

“Why spend so much time on that one?”

The Lord answered:

“Have you seen all the specifications I have to meet to shape her?”

“She must be washable but not plastic, have more than 200 moving parts which all must be replaceable and she must function on all kinds of food. She must be able to embrace several kids at the same time. Give a hug that can heal anything from a bruised knee to a broken heart and she must do all this with only two hands.”

The Angel was impressed.

“Just two hands … impossible!” “And this is the standard model? Too much work for one day … wait until tomorrow and then complete her”

The Lord said:

“I will not! I am so close to completing this creation which will be the favorite of my heart”

“She cures herself when sick and she can work 18 hours a day”

The Angel came closer and touched the woman and said:

“But you have made her so soft”

The Lord said:

“Yes she is soft, but I have also made her strong. You can’t imagine what she can endure and overcome”

The Angel asked:

“Can she think?”

The Lord answered:

“Not only can she think, she can reason and negotiate.”

The Angel touched the woman’s cheek.

“Lord it seems this creation is leaking! You have put too many burdens on her”

The Lord corrected the angel,

“She’s not leaking. It’s a tear.”

The Angel asked:

“What’s it for?”

The Lord answered:

“Tears are her way of expressing grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her suffering and her pride.”

The Angel was impressed. He said:

“Lord, you are a genius! You thought of everything. The woman is indeed marvelous”

The Lord said:

“Indeed she is! Woman have strengths that amazes man. She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens”

“She holds happiness, love and opinions. She smiles when she feels like screaming. She sings when she feels like crying. Crys when she is happy and laughs when she is afraid”

“She fights for what she believes in. She stands up against injustice. She doesn’t take “no” for an answer when she can see a better solution. She gives herself so her family can thrive. Her love is unconditional”

“She cries when her kids are victorious. She is happy when her friends do well. She is glad when she hears a birth or wedding.”

“Her heart is broken when a next of kin or friend dies, but she finds the strength to get on with life.”

“She knows that a kiss and a hug can heal a broken heart”

There is only one thing wrong with her … she forgets what she is worth!!!

In the west, we deem this action as infanticide. I am personally against the taking of a life. I hold this belief because of my moral fiber and because I was brought up in a society and culture that dictates that it is wrong.

However, morality is subjective. Culture varies from nation to nation. Are the actions of Ethiopian elders wrong?

What are your thoughts?

In life, we’re always going to have critics. We’ll always have difficult people who try to upset us and steal our peace and joy. But, you don’t have to respond to every critic. You can decide to take the high road and let God fight your battles for you.

 

Sometimes, no matter what you say or do, there are people who aren’t going to accept you. They just don’t want to be at peace with you. In fact, when Jesus sent out His disciples to certain homes, He told them to always speak peace over those homes. And then He said in effect, “If they don’t receive the peace that you’re offering, then it will come back to you.” That tells me that if you will do your best to be at peace with people, even if they won’t take your peace, the good news is that peace will just come back to you. You’ll not only get your peace, but you’ll get their share as well!

That’s double for your trouble! When you do the right thing no matter what is happening, God sees it and rewards it. Today, stay in peace, cease from strife, and take the high road. Sow good seeds into others and watch the harvest of blessing come to your own life in return.
